We’ve been pretty hard at work at Studio Kumiho these days. Now that we have some basic character concept art, Irene has been adding color to create these beautiful renderings. We’re hoping to have some more to show next week, but in the meantime, I can share this one, it’s my favorite personally.

I love the way that Irene tells the story and emotion with just a few simple lines, color, and texture. Seriously. Does it tug on your heart strings the way it does mine?
In other news, we’ve now had two live streaming sessions on Twitch. Jimmy has been heading that campaign, and the bits that I’ve caught have been pretty interesting to watch. To tell the truth, I only know a little code myself, so watching my brother break down the work behind the scenes has been fascinating and a little magical, maybe coding is a little like potion-making in Harry Potter? But does that mean my brother is Snape? I digress…
Yesterday, feeling a little exhausted and in a writers/creative block, I went for a bicycle ride. There is a little path behind my apartment that leads to the Eastern Trail.

Riding beneath the tree tops and feeling the wind in my hair as the sunlight dappled through the trees was transformative. Maybe it was listening to the Breath of the Wild Soundtrack, maybe it was the fresh air, but I felt like I was part of the world again, and also like I was on my own adventure through strange, yet familiar lands.

I felt like I was part of a Studio Ghibli movie as I started to pick up speed and burst out onto the salt marshes.

I cannot stress enough that sometimes all that’s needed to turn a day around is to go outside. So much of our this project is based upon our experiences and we draw inspiration from the places we love.
Where do you go when you’re in need of inspiration? Is there a place that keeps calling you back? I’d love to hear all about it!
Oh! I almost forgot the cat tax!

PS, here’s a cute picture of a baby skunk I found the other day!

Loved reading this behind-the-scenes post! The way you explained the V1.2 “Big Heccin” update made it easy to https://www.docsoutsidethebox.us understand the design choices and improvements. I recently saw a docsoutsidethebox blog covering game updates, which offered a different but equally interesting perspective.
This post was a delightful and inspiring behind‑the‑scenes look at your creative process at Studio Kumiho! I really appreciated how you shared the progress from concept art to vibrant color renderings — it gives a great sense of the passion and effort that goes into bringing characters to life. Your reflection on how little everyday moments, like a bike ride, can unlock fresh inspiration felt especially genuine and relatable. It reminded me of a similar conversation I saw on a review blog https://www.phonydiploma.com/, where they explored creative workflows and how environment and experience influence artistic output — it offered an interesting complementary perspective as well. Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful and engaging post!
This was a beautifully written and visually engaging piece. The way you described the transition and emotional resonance of color felt both artistic and thoughtful. I’ve noticed similar attention to presentation and clarity when browsing design-inspired content shared by https://www.sherwaytrilliumdental.ca/, where aesthetics and communication work hand in hand. Posts like this remind readers how powerful visual storytelling can be when done with intention.
